Sue Cowell: Pine Needle Basketry Sue Cowell is a native Washingtonian and has been coiling baskets since 1995. She never uses patterns, preferring to create her own designs, so each basket is unique and numbered. "I just love the combination of black and tan needles. It's so dramatic, almost formal. The shell on the lid, perfecly matched, adds a touch of whimsy. It's rather like wearing a daisy in the buttonhole of a tux." |
